LD-TEC — migrating off Joomla after a spam attack
The site of a food-industry equipment manufacturer was attacked and practically unusable. We moved it to static with no database. Not one incident since.
The problem
LD-TEC is a Novi Sad company that has designed and built equipment for coffee factories since 2009 — compactors, silos, mixers, conveyors. The site ran on Joomla and was a spam-attack target. The content was buried, and a company that exports equipment could not show a buyer a working catalogue.
The problem was not the design. The problem was that the site had a database and plugins nobody updated — an attack surface that exists every day the site is up.
What we did
- Extracted the content from the Joomla database and sorted the client's real text from the leftovers of the attack
- Rebuilt the site as clean static HTML — no database, no plugins, no admin panel exposed to the internet
- Set up a bilingual version, Serbian and English, because the company exports
- Included five PDF brochures in the sitemap so Google indexes the product catalogue itself, not just the pages
- Wrote alt text for all thirty product photographs
- Added structured data about the company and its products
Result
The most important result is not a number: the site no longer has a database or plugins, so it no longer has the class of attack that took it down. Maintenance came down to hosting and backups.
Next step
If your site runs on WordPress or Joomla and nobody maintains it, this is the same story before it happens.
